Be good to yourself

Recent conversations with my lovely friends have made me aware that we're all feeling a little burnt out at the moment and counting down the days until our Christmas holidays. This post is dedicated to you. You've worked hard and have overcome many challenges this year. Now, it's time to be good to yourself. Allow yourself some time to meet your own needs and celebrate your efforts. Here is a list of gentle ways to be good to yourself. Please note that this list is not meant to guilt you into adding yet another item on your to-do list. Use these suggestions, if you wish to, out of self-love instead of obligation.

  • go to bed early
  • have a facial
  • say no
  • sit in the sun
  • go for a walk
  • stretch
  • have a cup of tea or coffee, savour it
  • dance
  • journal your hopes and dreams
  • ask for help
  • catch up with friends
  • unplug yourself from your computer and smart phone for a couple of hours
  • see a movie
  • take regular breaks during the day
  • cook something from scratch
  • go for a drive
  • take photos of your everyday life
  • get a new haircut
  • read a magazine
  • take a yoga class
  • have a glass of wine, sip it slowly
  • watch your favourite chick flick
  • get a massage
  • read a book
  • use a heat pack
  • have a bubble bath
  • look through some of your favourite travel photos
  • breathe deeply
  • spend time with family
  • let it go
  • daydream
  • call your bestie
  • buy yourself some fresh flowers
  • put on some yummy body lotion
  • be present
  • listen to songs from high school
  • have a go at doing something new
  • declutter
  • rearrange your space
  • buy a new shade of lipstick
  • remember that you are human
  • remember that you are doing your best
